California: Sandeep Johri has joined Appcelerator as the Chief Operating Officer. Johri is an Executive In Residence (EIP) at Mayfield Fund and resides on the board of Dhingana. Appcelerator is a mobile platform company that is enabling businesses to employ Web developers to build intuitive, content-rich native applications for multiple devices using a common cross-platform code base.

“We are thrilled to have Sandeep, a proven entrepreneur and executive, join our team and come on board as COO. He has deep expertise and an exceptional track record in scaling businesses to take advantage of developing market opportunities, which will be critical as Appcelerator scales to meet the massive demand of mobility in the enterprise,” said Jeff Haynie, CEO, Appcelerator.

Johri is a seasoned senior technology executive with more than 20 years of experience in both large corporate and startup environments. Prior to joining Appcelerator, he served as an executive-in-residence at Mayfield Fund, where he focused on opportunities in the enterprise sector, both evaluating investments and providing expertise to Mayfield’s portfolio companies.

“As a former Mayfield EIP, we are thrilled that Johri has decided to take on a senior leadership role at Mayfield’s flagship mobile enterprise portfolio company. His track record, deep domain expertise, and unparalleled market access will be a huge asset to Appcelerator as it grows exponentially,” said Navin Chaddha, Managing Director, Mayfield Fund.

Johri said, “Appcelerator is the leading open-source based mobile app platform. Smartphones and tablets have transformed the mobile consumer experience, yet enterprise mobility is still in its infancy. The consumerisation of IT is driving enterprises to become more agile and discover new sources of revenue and customer engagement and Appcelerator is helping for the same. I look forward to working with the Appcelerator team to scale adoption of its platform and reach massive enterprise adoption.”

Johri holds a B.E. in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering in Pune, an M.S. in industrial engineering from Wayne State University, and an MBA from Stanford University.
