Ozonetel With Gharpay Introduces Offline Payments

Hyderabad: The  e- commerce players are reporting between 40-60% of their overall transactions through COD. Consumers are afraid to pay online and over phone through credit or debit card. Ozonetel along with Gharpay has brought the solution to your doorstep. The Hyderabad-based Ozontel Systems, a cloud telephony technology, has entered into a strategic partnership with Gharpay, a Hyderabad-based doorstep cash payment network to offer offline payments through Interactive Voice Response (IVR).

As per the tie-up, Ozonetel’s hosted cloud telephony platform “Kookoo” will provide the telephony interface, while Gharpay will take care of the locations for collecting payments. The companies will be able to offer a ‘pay cash after/before delivery’ payment option to customers who do not want to use their credit or debit card over the phone.

Founded in 2007 by serial technology entrepreneur Murthy Chintalapati along with Atul Sharma, Ozonetel Systems pioneered cloud telephony technology in India with an aim to bridge the digital divide in India by enabling 50 million SMBs/SMEs on this platform to do business with 800 million mobile voice users speaking different regional languages using voice as the medium. Kookoo is a programmable telephony platform for entrepreneurs and businesses, who want to develop their own apps, which uses telephony channel. It allows entrepreneurs to leverage the platform with no upfront investment and launch innovative services over phone by developing new applications in familiar web technologies.

Murthy, Founder and CEO, Ozonetel Systems, said, “Partnering with Gharpay gives Ozontel the ability to provide customers from e-commerce/e-tailing verticals and service verticals, the most efficient offline payments through Interactive Voice Response. The combination of ground breaking innovation in cloud telephony from Ozonetel and Gharpay’s cutting edge technology in cash payment network for e- commerce/e-tailing industry is a potent combination. In India over 95% of retail transactions still carried out through cash.”

Murthy is a serial technology entrepreneur. He started his first venture Intoto in 1997 at SanJose, California. Murthy also set up Rocsys, an offshore development center to address the engineering needs of Intoto in India. After the acquisition of Intoto by Freescale Semiconductor in 2008, he went on to establish Ozonetel as a subsidiary of Rocsys. He holds a Masters in electrical engineering from IIT, Delhi.

Since August  2010, Ozonetel has launched more than 100 customers-developers and businesses who have built apps ranging from Mobile prepaid card recharge to accessing Mobile Social Networking Content over Telephony. The clientele includes QuickR, Zipdial, Mchek, IFB, Tastykhana, Abhibus, Grameen Foundation India, Trident Hyundai, Pratham Motors, Rural BPOs, Rocketalk and several others.
