One97 Communications invests $1 Million in TheMobileGamer
New Delhi: TheMobileGamer (TMG) of Singapore, raised $1 million in series A round of funding from India-based One97 Communications. TMG is a publisher of mobile social games like Club Wars, Monster Fight and Fun Factory for South East Asia. The Singapore-based TMG has more than 500,000 subscriber base for its games, and is distributed directly through Kotagames.com and via social networks. It license and develop games that are localized and distributed through various networks and operators in SEA. Any mobile, which comes with a mobile browser, can access the games provided by TMG. Alvin Yap, CEO, TMG, said, "TMG is extremely thrilled to have One97 as an investor. The value goes beyond money as we are sure Vijay and his team can add significant knowledge and experience along with unprecedented access to the Indian market." One97 Communications provides telecom application cloud platform. Headquartered in New Delhi, it is more than 1,000 people strong team and backed by marquee investors like Intel Capital, SAIF Partners and Silicon Valley Bank. It delivers mobile content, advertising and commerce services to millions of mobile consumers. The company also invests in early stage mobile companies out of its initiative One97 Mobility Fund with a corpus of $100 million, which has invested in many companies like Oorja Analytics, LeapSky Wireless, Ciqual, TenCube and PayTM. Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, One97 Communication, said, "Mobile social gaming is a high growth area of mobile gaming. Alvin and his team have shown their creativity and passion in launching addictive games on social platforms in South East Asia. We are very delighted to be part of the success of TMG." Sharma is currently responsible for the strategy and direction and leads the company in all areas relating to business expansion as well as product road map. He has more than 10 years of experience in the telecom and new media industries, having founded his first venture XS Corps while he was at college, which he sold to Lotus Interworks, New Jersey in 1999.
