Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based pharmacy retail chain MedPlus Healthcare Services has launched an ecommerce site MedplusBeauty.com. The site provides a catalog of more than 12,000 Indian and international brands, a virtual saloon, and a before-and-after comparison platform.

Founded in 2006 by Madhukar Gangadi, the company offers customers the option to have the products delivered to their homes or pick it from the nearest MedPlus store. It operates through more than 950 stores across six states.

According to Gangadi, the new site would help MedPlus overcome the traditional ways and make available many multiple products under one roof with a convenient payment option. The domestic cosmetic and personal care market is around 5,000 crore, of which skincare accounts for 2,800 crore.

MedPlus had earlier raised 410 crore in private equity, led by Mount Kellett Capital Management. The funding also saw the participation of TVS Capital and Ajay Piramal Group’s healthcare fund. It is looking forward to double its product offering and keeping stock-keeping brands. It is also in talks to launch its own labels and is negotiating with various original equipment manufacturers.

The chain competes with the likes of Apollo Pharmacy, Guardian Lifecare, and Hetero. MedPlus offers genuine drugs, quality storage, wide availability, and free home delivery. It follows value pricing and offers 10 percent discount on medicines and 5 percent discounts on general products to all consumers.
