Kaizen to invest $5 Million on e-learning in India

Chennai: In a bid to expand its presence across India, Chennai based e-learning provider Kaizen Learning Solutions is planning to invest $5 million ( 23 crore). It would look to tie-up with universities and create 2,000 learning hours of content. The company is also planning to impart skill-based education according to industry needs. The company would create, distribute and manage content on line for universities in areas such as management, ownership, information technology and teaching skills. It also plans skill-based education depending upon the needs of industry such as small-scale industries, IT and IT-enabled services. "India presently has about 400 universities and 19,000 colleges. We need to add 800 more universities and 35,000 colleges to meet our ambitious target of increasing gross enrolment ratio to 30 percent from 12.4 per cent. This gives us an immense opportunity to bridge the infrastructure gap through use of technology," said Founder and CEO, Kaizen Learning Solutions. The company has launched a Website that aims to partner Indian universities and offer certified courses in the areas of management, entrepreneurship, information technology and teaching skills through its online collaborative learning and video delivery platform, the company has launched the website. The portal, www.myonlinevarsity.com, which would operate on open source platform, would partner universities and significantly enhance learning effectiveness of their traditional correspondence programmes. The company plans to set up around 100 contact centers and achieve a top line of 100 crore in the next three years. According to a report by CLSA Asia Pacific Markets, the size of e-learning market in India is expected to grow to 1,092 crore by 2012 from the present 105 crore.
