Infosys Laureates You Need to Know

Bangalore: Six decorated researchers, 5 science streams and one passion to scientifically assist the society was celebrated by Infosys at the Infosys Science Foundation 2011 Prize distribution function.  Eminent personalities from distinguished fields of science like Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences (Economics, Political Sciences) attended the felicitation ceremony.

How does a flock of birds move in perfect harmony? Have we found and cracked the Holy Grail of Agriculture? How do we find a perfect trajectory in between chaos? What does a ‘Full Blown Financial Crisis’ mean to a banker?  Will a quick fix problem solve Corruption in India? The answers to these simple questions are intricate and more complex. And researchers who confined themselves to track answers listed below were honored for their work. Excerpts from Infosys Website.

Professor Kalyanmoy Deb

The Infosys Prize for Engineering and Computer Science is awarded for his contributions to the emerging field of Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization (EMO) that has led to advances in non-linear constraints, decision uncertainty, programming and numerical methods, computational efficiency of large-scale problems and optimization algorithms.

Dr. Imran Siddiqui

The Infosys Prize for Life Sciences is awarded to for his breakthrough contributions to the basic understanding of clonal seed formation in plants which can be applied to revolutionize agriculture, especially in the developing world.
