Indian Cuisines and the Diversity it offers

Bangalore: Indian diversity is not just limited to the traditions and cultures prevailing in the country; without any doubt it is reflected in the cuisine of the nation as well. Indian food is rich in varieties and the taste it offers makes it unique from the rest of the world. Some of the eating habits and popular food items across the country are-



North Indian Food



The affection North-Indians carry for yoghurt, cottage cheese, ghee, saffron, milk and nuts is quite famous. Tasty, thick gravies are a common characteristic of North Indian dishes and meals are incomplete without sweets. Kashmiri cuisines are mainly prepared using the rice which is available in abundant quantities in the beautiful valleys and food here have strong Central Asian influences. But contrary to this, to the people of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh chapattis are their staple food. Apart from chapattis, tandoori, rumaali and naan are also preferred by the people of this region. The influence of Mughlai food is also quite famous in the northern region.
