'Hindi' The New Kid in Blogging Scenario
Bangalore: India has more than 71 million mobile users and the rural India overtakes urbanites. To leverage this situation, several websites have come up with Hindi Translator, such as Google did in 2007. The launch of Hindi Translator by Google opened the door of social networking to millions of Indians who were unable to use due to language constraints. After Google, Facebook and YouTube, now is the turn of Twitter. With the growing penetration of mobile and internet in the rural regions of India, where people come from less privileged backgrounds when compared to the web savvy urban population, English is less popular among them and so many were unable to leverage these social sites. With several social entrepreneurs and NGO's coming up with cyber cafes in villages to train and equip the locals with technical skills, there are several social sites coming up with expansion in not just Hindi, but several other regional languages. Is this the process to give themselves a local face for people to view them as a part of their life? Hindi being a kid in this ecosystem is playing its part to contribute towards letting these people open up to several social media sites and leverage them for being in contact with their near and dear ones. Being a two way platform, Hindi will help the mobile and internet industry to penetrate much deeper in rural India and even several mobile app developers are also going to gain momentum through the current revolutionizing phase. Many entrepreneurs who lean towards sharing their thought with this chunk of people, who are Hindi users, will start sharing their views through blogging in Hindi. This will help the rural people to better understand the market and frame strategies accordingly. This trend surely is going to bring a lot of change in the life of people belonging to small towns and cities, or those who study in Hindi-medium and can be a blessing in disguise for them. However, there is a different category of people who loves to tweet in Hindi to show patriotism. So, is Hindi going to make big in this run? Time will answer the question.
