Director Ashwini Chaudhary, who is making the sequel of Sunny Deol starrer 'Ghayal' after a gap of 20-years, says the film will see the actor return with all his raw intensity that made him a star. 'Ghayal Returns' is the sequel to 1990 film 'Ghayal' which was a Sunny Deol-Rajkumar Santoshi collaboration. The film was a critical and box office success. Ashwini says they are not trying to make a franchise out of the movie because it is still the story of Ajay Mehra, the protagonist played by Sunny in the 1990 film. "'Ghayal Returns' is very challenging as well as risky. There are huge expectations from the audience. What Sunny and Santoshi had done in 'Ghayal' was phenomenon. I know that I have a huge bar to jump. Also, we are not using 'Ghayal' as a franchise. Instead it is a story that has taken a 20-year leap and is now progressing ahead. Sunny is still Ajay Mehra," Ashwini told PTI. It is now creating a record of sorts by seeing a sequel being made after a long gap. It also marks Ashwini's return to direction after a gap of four years. "I don't think there ever has been a sequel made after so many elapsed years. Sunny and I wanted to convey the raw intensity that Ajay Mehra (character played by Sunny) carries. 'Ghayal Returns' would be taking the audience into Sunny's territory." Ashwini recently released a 30-second teaser of 'Ghayal Returns', which is a work in progress. Sunny is seen in a cop's uniform delivering his famous punch. The director, whose previous films include 'Good Boy Bad Boy', 'Siskiyaan' and 'Dhoop', says a lot of brainstorming went into the teaser. "What to show in those 30 seconds and prepare audience for the mood of 'Ghayal Returns'?. We could have taken any route but then we opted for just one punch doing the trick. Sometimes it works out better than beating 15 people and blowing away 20 cars," he said. While the film's leading lady and the villain are yet to be announced, 'Ghayal Returns' is all set to go on floors in the last quarter of the year.
