Bangalore: Electrolux has launched Silence Amplified vacuum cleaner, which is based on UltraSilencer, an eco-friendly vacuum cleaner with a very quiet motor. This Vacuum cleaner also has a iPod dock and integrated speakers built in to the front of the vacuum cleaner, so that people can listen to music while they do their housework, according to The Telegraph. "Many people listen to music to help them focus on a task or to make an activity more enjoyable," said Cecilia Gustavsson, Product Line Manager for Electrolux. "We are now offering this opportunity when vacuuming. Our laboratory tests show that if you listen to music while cleaning, it will improve the cleaning performance, reduce the stress levels and give a general feeling of well-being." The Swedish manufacturer has created a website where people can create the perfect playlist for vacuuming the house. Users have to enter details about the size of their home, the type of floor they are cleaning, and the amount of furniture they have to negotiate. Although the Silence Amplified vacuum cleaner is only a concept, Electrolux joked that it could be persuaded to mass-produce the gadget if it were to receive a million pre-orders. The sound produced by the vacuum cleaner amounts to about 68 decibels, equivalent to the noise level of a normal conversation. Electrolux said the near-silent operation was based on a patented technology, which optimised air flow and suction while at the same time lowering the noise. "Every unoptimised bend in a vacuum cleaner increases noise levels and lowers performance," said Electrolux. "Using new insulation and a new way of suspending the motor has reduced the vibrations to a minimum." Vacuum cleaners are not the only household appliances to feature integrated iPod docks. Gorenje unveiled a range of "Made for iPod" refrigerators at IFA, the consumer electronics trade show, earlier this year.
