Bangalore: The Bangalore-based EduSports, which provides end-to-end solutions to K-12 schools, is planning to raise 20 crore. The company is in talks with VCs and Private Equity funds to raise the amount. EduSports has previously raised fund from several angel investors and SpeedFund, an early stage VC company, has invested 26 lacs last year in the company.

Co-Founded in 2009 by  Saumil Majmudar, Meer Waqiruddin Khaleeq, Parminder Gill, Jyoti Majumdar, and Suhas Nair, EduSports provides sports curriculum and training to K-12 schools on an outsourcing model. SOAR program by EduSports is a school sports management platform that helps schools improve the overall quality of the physical education and sports experience through various services/products.

“We are 250 people in our company and reaching to a market size of 100 crore in four years is on the roadmap for us. We plan to use the fund for expansion, building systems and processes, infrastructure and creating platforms,” says Saumil Majmudar, Co-Founder and CEO, EduSports.

Majmudar is an alumnus from IIT Bombay and IIM Bangalore. He was a part of the Maharashtra Badminton team and the IIT Bombay Football team. Majmudar also founded SportVillage and was the director of the company. Personally he has engaged with over 100,000 children, 50,000 parents and over 200 schools in the Sports context over the last decade.

Commenting on the competition, Majmudar says, “A couple of players have started recently. They work with 20-30 schools. However, EduSports works with 170 schools and 1.3 lacs kids. Parents are getting concerned about their kids health and fitness. Schools are looking to improve the quality of the sports experience at the school. We are at the intersection of Education and Health and Fitness – both recession-proof and growth industries.”
