BlackMahal to perform during 2011 SXSW Music festival in Austin

Austin: BlackMahal, an American-Punjabi band from San Francisco is all set to shake up Austin in 2011 SXSW Music festival, one of the most anticipated music festivals in the U.S. BlackMahal is making its way to SXSW for the first time. The band will perform at one of the most notable events during SXSW, the 'Around the World' showcase. It will take the stage on March 15 at Momos Club.
The group will be performing new material from their upcoming debut album, Music + Love + Dancing. The band's pre-release singles have been aired across international radio and featured on stations in Boston, San Francisco and the UK's BBC-Radio 1. They have garnered attention of international press including buzz in the San Francisco Chronicle, Rolling Stone, Ego Trip, Wired and MTV Desi, claimed the band.
The band features vocals from Ustad Lal Singh Bhatti, the godfather of Punjabi-American music. Bhatti has been featured in Rolling Stone, Wired, and has played with bands ranging from the Black Eyed Peas to the Doors. BlackMahal also features Vijay Chattha (vocals), DJ Jay Slim, (turntables), Jon Cook (drums), Tim Chang (electric bass), Satish Pillai (keyboards), Pangfua Her (vocals), Sandeep Bhatt (sax) and David Wood (trumpet).
