7 Most Biggest Political Showdowns in 2014 Election

Rahul Gandhi (Congress) Vs Smriti Irani (BJP) Vs Kumar Vishwas (AAP) in Amethi (Uttar Pradesh):  The upcoming election at Amethi in Uttar Pradesh that will go for poll on 7 May will be different than other years. Instead of faceless opponents put up by other parties, Rahul Gandhi, a two-time MP from Amethi is locked in a triangular contest this time with BJP candidate Smriti Irani and Kumar Vishwas from Aam Aadmi Party pitted against him.
Though the Congress Vice President has won the seat in 2004 and 2009 elections with huge margins, Congress has lost in three of the five assembly seats falling under Amethi Parliamentary seats during the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2012.

The constituency is better known to be the seat of power of the Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty since 1980, when Sanjay Gandhi represented it once and later Rajiv Gandhi represented the seat four times. Sonia Gandhi also represented the seat but later shifted to Rae Bareily, vacating the seat for Rahul. Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru also represented the seat in Amethi.

Gul Panag (AAP) Vs Pawan Kumar Bansal (Congress) Vs Kirron Kher (BJP) in Chandigarh:  Enthusiastic voters began queuing up in the first hour itself in Chandigarh. In the four-cornered contest for the lone seat in Chandigarh, Pawan Kumar Bansal is pitted against political lightweights such as Kirron Kher of the BJP, Gul Panag of the Aam Aadmi Party and Jannat Jahan of the Bahujan Samaj Party. While Kher and Panag are first-timers with little experience in politics, Jahan is a city corporator.
Chandigarh has over 6.13 lakh eligible voters and 519 polling stations. It has over 2.81 lakh women voters while there are over 1.71 lakh young voters (20-29 years).
