6 People Who Represent Indian Luxury Market

Sanjay Kapoor

Sanjay Kapoor is the Managing Director of Genesis Luxury, which is a part of Genesis Colors. He represents Canali, Tumi, Bottega Veneta, Etro, Paul Smith, Jimmy Choo and Burberry in the country.  Kapoor gave up his Citibank job when he was in his early 20s. Though the job was much secure, but he took this initiative likely because of the concern of his family which had never produced entrepreneurs.

He mostly likes menswear brands at Canali stores. He is considered to be more of classic dresser than experimental. He says, “Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying being dressed in a conservative suit is the only mark of a well-dressed man. Take two examples - A.D. Singh, who runs Olive, is always nattily turned out whether he is wearing a hat or a white suit. On the other extreme is Nakul Anand, who runs ITC hotels. He dresses in a suit with a matching pocket square and a tie always. It doesn’t necessarily mean one style is better (than the other), but what you prefer. I lean more towards Nakul Anand’s style”, as told to LiveMint.
