5 Most Lethal Additions to India's Military Might

LCA Tejas

Though the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) is delayed by more than 20 years, the wait seems to finally bear a fruit. A dazzling display of Tejas aircraft at the Aero India 2013 has won the hearts of millions of Indians and seems to have induced fear in the hearts of the enemies.

The much awaited indigenous multirole light fighter is expected to be commissioned into operational service by 2015.

Tejas is a tailless, compound delta-wing design powered by a single engine that is expected to replace ageing MiG-21 fleets in the country. The fighter has a pure delta wing configuration, with no tailplanes or foreplanes, and a single dorsal fin.

Tejas is an amalgamation of technologies such as relaxed static stability, fly-by-wire flight control system, multi-mode radar, integrated digital avionics system, composite material structures, and a flat rated engine. And it is the second supersonic fighter developed indigenously by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited after the HAL Marut.
