He managed to expand his company by acquiring other newspapers like The Sun, News of the World, The Times. He also took over companies like Twentieth Century Fox, Harper Collins and The Wall Street Journal. Till 2000 his company owned over 800 companies in over 50 countries worth $5 billion. In 2011 he was accused of hacking the phones of celebrities and royalty, as well as for corruption and taking bribe. Instead of all this allegations he received a bonus of $12.5 million and he took away a package of $33.3 million which was 47 percent more than previous years.
