10 Super Rich Candidates Contesting 16th Lok Sabha Election

Anil Kumar Sharma: Real estate baron, Anil Kumar Sharma, who is all set to fight in the upcoming Lok Sabha election on a JD(U) ticket from Jehanabad, is the richest candidate in Bihar with assets worth 850 crore. Chairman cum Managing Director of the Amrapali Group of Companies, Sharma has most of his wealth in the form of movable assets pegged at 815 crore. He has 2.15 crore cash in hand and jewellery worth 3.1 crore. He also owns a Ford Endeavour bought in 2004. Most of the investments made by Sharma are in his own group of companies. He has residences in New Delhi, Greater Noida (UP), Goa and Patna. His wife Pallavi Mishra has assets worth 1.75 crore. This includes 1.2 kg of gold and silver jewellery worth 51 lakh. In his maiden electoral foray, the builder is pitted against Arun Kumar of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) and Surendra Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), who have assets worth 4 crore and 5 crore respectively.

Moni Kumar Subba: Entry of lottery baron Moni Kumar Subba into the fray as an Independent is likely to make the contest in Tezpur an interesting one. As there are three-time former Congress MP relying on support of main opposition party AIUDF and the Nepali community to see him through.

Subba, who lost in 2009 to AGP's Joseph Toppo, was denied a Congress ticket for the cases pending against him, and could queer the pitch for the ruling party candidate Bhupen Bora. He is the richest candidate in the state with 306 crore of declared assets. Apart from serious cases against him, Subba's Indian citizenship is also under the scanner after a petition was filed in 2005 in the Apex Court alleging that he was a Nepali citizen who had fled from there after a murder case was registered against him in the early 70s.
