US Industry will Deliberate the Smart City Plan

Bangalore : To advance the PM Narendra Modi’s development of a 100 smart cities plan, the US government expressed interest and likely to involve consultants in developing the smart city plan of Vishakhapatnam. The Singapore government has taken an initiative and came forward to draft the master plan for the capital city for free of charge.

Fast tracking the plan to develop smart cities, the Indian Government signed a memorandum of understanding MOU with United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) on Sunday after making the discussions for the development of Smart cities across the state, predominantly Vishakhapatnam.
 
The US, Indian Business Council has started preparing the blueprint of Ajmer to develop major city into a smart city. To advance the goal of developing major/coastal cities into smart city, US companies’ representatives held discussions with senior officials on Friday to create a roadmap for Vishakhapatnam and to provide a glance of opportunities available in the city .

The Andhra Pradesh government plans to develop 14 smart cities. The USA will offer expert help to AP officials in the creation of smart cities.
 
Smart cities are the assimilation of urban living, information technology, smart infrastructure, and telecommunications. This will maximize the quality of life.
 
Sources said, to prepare a detailed action plan in the next three months USTDA and urban Government ministry agreed to set up three task forces.
 
One of the officials said “IT giants like Cisco, IBM and Deloitte are showing interest on the development of the smart city plan”.
“The USA will also bring few agencies and companies to invest in the state” Official added.

Multi National Companies such as 3M, Cisco, IBM, Hospira, GE, Dow, CH2MHill, EMC, Honeywell, Timken, Louis Berger, KPMG and Otis have grouped to aid in the development of 100 smart cities across the nation, mainly Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and Ajmer in Rajasthan. This group is actively participating in developing plans. These companies will also provide technical solutions.
 
The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will scrutinize the project.
