Bangalore : The DDA has received over 10 Lakh applications for its biggest New ‘Housing Scheme 2014' ; to check its preparedness for the much-awaited draw of lots, it will carry out a dry run on Monday.Usually, November 10 was the tentative date for holding a draw of lots of housing scheme, but on Sunday a senior official of the DDA housing authority said that the exact date would be decided based on the consequence of Monday's trial.

The DDA Official told that “We are going to hold a dry run on Monday to test the preparedness for conducting the draw of lots of housing scheme, like the technological elements involved, so as to assuage any unpleasant incident on the day of the draw. The exact date for the draw would be decided accordingly.

Moreover, Delhi Development Authority is also intending to webcast the entire process live on YouTube for the first time, along these lines the run serves as a means to check everything in functioning condition to keep away from any glitches later on. Through online channel YouTube the webcast would be available to unlimited number of users. The DDA’s biggest housing scheme which was launched on September 1 to offer over 25,030 flats across various categories  has seen an enormous response from end users of both online and offline, leading to the DDA’s website getting crushed within few hours on the opening date itself.

The Delhi Development Authority is offering flats ranging from Rs 7 Lakh to Rs 1.2 crore. The 22,627 one-bed room apartments was a major draw for the people this year.Due to festival season, the last date for the scheme was extended from October 9 to October 15. Till then 7.5 Lakh applications were received where as 17 Lakh brochures were sold through DDA counters and empanelled banks. Currently, the applicants’ number rose to 8.5 Lakh as the applications from flinging bank branches reached the DDA head quarter late.
One of the officials avowed that “The primary reason for the slight response, although selling so many brochures could be the five year lock in period for the ownership of the flats, which have been launched for the first time. Besides, most offered flats are of low range, one bedroom unit, so that could be another reason”.

“Now the applications have crossed 10 Lakh and basically that is the last figure, we would say. Applicants are going online because they can check the status and the procedure for conducting the draw on our website” she added.
By anticipating the rush of online traffic on its official website, the DDA has planned to dedicate server, which has load balancing facilities to avoid crash due to heavy traffic.“C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) which has conducted the draw earlier was  the vendor for the draw and the venue will be either head office of DDA (Vikas Sadan) or Noida where the C-DAC office is established, the proper venue details have not been confirmed yet,” V S Tomar said.

“Both places have their own pros and cons; If C-DAC agrees to shift their server to DDA headquarters, then we will conduct the draw in Auction hall or Conference Hall, which have a capacity of between 200-250 and we are planning to conduct the draw in the best possible way” he added.“It was decided not to provide a link for the webcast on the DDA website as there is a chance to crash”, Tomar said.
