Centre seeks suggestions on Real Estate Bill

New Delhi : The central government will discuss with stakeholders about the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2013 before tabling it in the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming session of parliament, an official said here Wednesday."The ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation has convened a meeting of stakeholders Friday and seek their suggestions on the bill," the official said.

Meanwhile, Urban Development and Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu discussed various aspects of the bill with the secretary and other senior officials of the ministry.The minister said the bill should promote transparency in disclosures by the developers with regard to all relevant information about real estate projects, through registration of projects with the proposed regulator.

Besides Naidu and senior officials of ministry, representatives of the ministries of environment and forests and climate change, consumer affairs, civil aviation, culture would attend the consultations on various related issues.The issues of protection of consumers' interests, single window system for approval of real estate projects will figure in the discussion.

After the stakeholder consultations, Naidu would have a round-table of concerned ministers before firming up the official amendments to be moved, if required.
