Indian-Origin Man Found Guilty of Bomb Threat in U.S.
Bangalore: Shaneel Jain, an Indian origin has been found guilty of threatening to bomb a medical firm in Connecticut. Jain, who calls himself a terrorist, faces up to 10 years imprisonment and the date of his sentencing is scheduled on 16 October.
Jain is convicted on two charges-one for making a bomb threat and the other for false information and hoaxes. David Fein, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut says that Jain would have to pay an amount of a million dollar as fine.
The trial began last week and as per the evidence presented Jain has called Z-Medica (a Connecticut-based company that produces QuickClot) several times in the year 2010, from India. He called himself as a terrorist during these calls and also threatened to bomb the company within 24 hours. Jain also said that he has been involved in such practices earlier as well, but the American law "could not touch" him.
The FBI and the Connecticut State Police conducted searches of Z-Medica's facilities following the threat and the company was even forced to cancel several of their shifts, which affected their business largely. The firm also made use of the private security for many weeks, but no bomb or other explosive was found.
