Chennai Literature Recognized at American Book Awards

Bangalore: The Honor List of the 2012 South Asia Book Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature has recognized two books from Chennai- Following my Paint Brush and Sita's Ramayana for their outstanding depiction of South Asian themes, reports Times of India. Both the books are published by Chennai based Publisher Tara Books.

Following my Paint Brush is the autobiography of a household worker who later becomes an artist, Dular Devi. It’s an optimistic story, which is explained in a simple and classy way with beautiful illustrations. Sita's Ramayana, authored by Samhita Arni tells the story of Ramayana through the angle of the heroine; Sita. This novel received appreciations of diverse sectors of the society and was also in the bestselling book list of New York Times.

The awards will be presented in a function which will be held in the month of October in Madison, Wisconsin. Two books from Chennai being included in the award list clearly indicates the extreme talent of the region, which is being accepted on a global scale.
