The Secrets of Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus


BENGALURU: Traditionally, specifications of Apple iPhones were shrouded in a veil of mystery. For the iPhone enthusiasts, curious about the innards of the world-class gadget, here is the list of its blood and soul.

The heart of the iPhone, Apples A10 fusion processors used in iPhone 7 are reported to be single sourced from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). The baseband LTE modem, transceivers and a power management chip in latest iPhones are from Intel Corporation and therefore the devices officially have Intel inside. As Intel supports only LTE, the iPhones that uses CDMA technology comes with Qualcomm CDMA modems.

The new iPhone houses three microphones, one at the bottom by Goertek and Knowles and two at the top of the device.   While the iSight camera chip is sourced from Sony and fabricated using its Exmor RS technology platform, the memory devices are from SK Hynix and Toshiba. The iPhone 7 comes with dual iSight cameras with F/1.8 aperture. As per reports the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth sockets in the iPhones are supplied by Murata manufacturing Co.  

While the sensor hub slots are handled by Broadcom, the Touch Controllers for iPhone 7 is manufactured by Universal Scientific Industries (USI) same as the previous iPhone versions. The iPhone 7 batteries are rated at 3.82 V and 2900mAh, for a total of 11.1 Wh, where the iPhone 6s Plus had only 10.45Wh (2750mAh)
