India Tops in Mobile Subscriptions, Low on Mobile Penetrations


BANGALORE: As the technology is growing rapidly over the years even mobile phone market witnesses a huge hike year by year. But  according to November 2015 edition of Ericsson Mobility Report Even though India has reported highest net additions in the mobile subscriptions globally the country continues to be one among the least in penetration of mobile phones in the world, reports BusinessLine.

The Data reveals that during the July-September this year, India has mobile penetration of 77 percent where the global average of 99 per cent. In the Asia-pacific region the countries except China and India are reported with a mobile penetration of 106 percent and as compared with India China and Africa are on a higher scale with 93 percent and 81 percent respectively.

According to the survey, in terms of mobile phone subscriptions India had topped the chart with 13 million. China is in the second position with 7 million whereas U.S. is in third place with 6 million.  India's emergence as among fastest growing mobile markets may boost mobile data consumption. The Increased data consumption will essentially be driven by increase in 4G-LTE smartphones. Asia Pacific’s regional share of LTE subscriptions are expected to be around 50 per cent in 2021.

The report also says the fifth generation to be faster than 4G. The network is expected to be primarily available at U.S., Japan, China and South Korea.
