2. Lake Vostok:

Considered to be one of the largest sub glacial lakes in the world, Lake Vostok is located in east Antarctica and is buried under 2 miles of ice near Russia’s Vostok research station. Covered with ice and cut off from light, Lake Vostok is considered to be one of the extreme places on Earth. It is also considered to be home to one of the unique ecosystems in the world, which is based on the chemicals in rocks and not light. Scientists have discovered nearly 3,500 gene sequences in Vostok, which has been isolated from the outside world for over 15 million years.

3. The Loch Ness Lake:

Loch Ness is a deep freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands, which is situated southwest of Inverness. Loch Ness is well-known for the sightings of the Loch Ness monster, also called as Nessie. Thought by some as the home of the Loch Ness monster, Loch Ness is the largest lake by volume in the British Isles.
