India-Bound Volkswagen Tiguan Unveiled: All The Details

On the outside the new Tiguan sports a pair of angular LED headlamps with LED DRLs directly flowing into a grille, a large 18 inch diamond cut alloy rims, chrome strips running around the side and tail bumpers and few other chrome element on the front wing. At the back it sports a sleek pair of horizontal LED taillamps, larger windscreen, roof spoiler, and twin chrome exhaust tips which adds to the sportier side of the SUV.

On the inside the new Tiguan features a familiar but lot more premium design with its fit and finish along with a leather upholstery and new materials. In terms of infotainment it offers an optional 12.3 inch Active Info display from the 2015 VW Passat, which displays the instrument dials and navigation in full screen. A 5-inch normal infotainment display is standard, while an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is available as optional equipment.  

The biggest take away from the new Tiguan is the introduction of premium features like the 3-zone automatic climate control system, panoramic sunroof, electric 4-way lumbar support and massage function for the front seats. That’s impressive!

Coming to safety most of us know that VW hardly compromises on it and to greet that the new Tiguan comes with safety features like City Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Monitoring and Lane Assist departure warning system, seven airbags, including a knee airbag on the driver’s side, and the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.

On the Higher variants the car will feature adaptive cruise control, Side Assist (lane-changing assistant), Pre-Crash proactive occupant protection, and Area View (360 degree view). Well we are not sure whether all these features will come on the Indian variants but one can only wish that it had because that’s some innovative and impressive list, which none of the car makers have got so far for a compact SUV.
