Festive Season Launch: 7 New Cars for the Money 2014


Mahindra Scorpio Facelift:

Homegrown auto major Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the all-new Scorpio for 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). In terms of design, the Scorpio facelift sports a new face equipped with the front grille and rear door that are inspired by the XUV500.

In the front, the SUV sports a new set of projector headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights, new bumper, and a new radiator grille. The rear gets a rear-spoiler and new LED tail lamps. Other than that, the exterior also features new roof rails, and body-colored door handles. The new 17-inch alloys wheels is likely to be offered only on higher variants.

Skoda Rapid Facelift:

The New Skoda Rapid gets a facelift with 1.5-litre diesel mated to a 7-speed DSG giving it a new lease of life. It has the potential to be a game changer in the segment. It has been launched at a starting price of 7.22 lakh. Apart from a new engine and an automatic gearbox, there is not too much change on the Rapid.

The interior of the new Skoda Rapid sedan has been loaded with several desirable features, both for comfort and safety. For comfortability, features such as Cruise Control, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and reverse parking sensors are included. For safety purpose, dual airbags have been provided. 

The major change in the Skoda Rapid is that it comes with a 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine, which generates a peak power of 103 bhp and maximum torque of 250 Nm. This, in turn, is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch DSG (automatic-optional). Similar power figures are also achieved by the 1.2 TSI petrol engine in the Rapid.

Coming to mileage, it gives an ARAI-certified mileage of 21.14 kmpl on manual variant and 21.6 kmpl on the DSG auto model.
