This place in Kerala is widely known for a strange phenomenon and that is the usual occurrence of red rain or blood rain. The first incident of such rain goes back to 1818 and after that, there were several other occurrences, the last of which was in 2012. There are multiple theories suggested by the scientists describing the phenomenon. However, all the theories contradict with one another, so the main cause of rain is still unknown.
