South India - A Spectacle to Behold

BENGALURU: When one plans for a South India trip, there are those common names which pop up, with its bustling crowds and trade. Here are a few of the less visited but extremely eloquent destinations one should visit down South.

Bylakuppe

Situated 80kms to the west of Mysore, Bylakuppe is a Tibetian settlement established by Lugsum Samdupling in 1961 and further developed by Dickyi Larsoe in 1969. With a population of over 70,000 Tibetians, with Buddhist monasteries and following Tibetian Buddhist traditions, the town has aptly received the sobriquet – ‘Mini Tibet’. The major tourist attractions are the Namdroling Monastery and Ingalakere Lake. Apart from this, the town is situated at a distance of about 40kms from Coorg, which makes it an ideal trip for the corporate folks of Bengaluru during the long weekends.
