New Ford Ecosport to Launch in December; Teaser Released


BENGALURU: Ford India’s new official teaser revealed the front-end of the new Ford EcoSport compact SUV, which also revealed the revised headlamps with LED DRL, reports Auto NDTV.

According to previous speculations, there will no changes in the car’s design and dimensions. Changes that we might see in the new Ford EcoSport are the refurnished design for the skid plate and the 17-inch alloy wheels. The new compact SUV will retain ground clearance of 200mm and the spare wheel mount on the rear door.

The interiors might not be changed but we will see the addition of new comfortable and user-friendly features. Ford India will also introduce a new trim-level in the 2016 Ford EcoSport line-up - Trend+.

Coming to the engine options, the carmaker will continue to offer the new compact SUV in 3 options, the 1.5 litre TDCi diesel, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol, and the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol. While the petrol motors’ performance numbers will be the same, the diesel engine will return to deliver improved power.

The different tuning of the diesel engine affects its mileage too; the current model's ARAI mileage is 22.67Km/l, whereas that of the new one will be 22.27Km/l. As far as EcoSport's transmission options go, a 5-speed manual will be the standard provision with the option of a 6-speed Powershift on the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol.

Here are the specs of the New EcoSport SUV and all three new variants:

New Ford EcoSport will see different dimensions like 3999mm length, 1765mm width, 1708mm height along with the 2520mm wheelbase, 200mm ground clearance with the boot space of 346 litres.

The 1.0-litre EcoBoost Petrol has a powerful engine with 999cc that gives 123.37bhp. It sports 5-speed manual with 170 Nm Torque and gives a mileage of 18.88km per litre.

The 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Petrol has a powerful engine with 1499cc that gives 110bhp. It sports 5-Speed Manual and 6-Speed Powershift (AT) with 140Nm Torque and gives a mileage of 15.8km per litre.

The 1.5-litre TDCi Diesel has a powerful engine with 1498cc that gives 99bhp. It sports 5-Speed Manual with 205Nm Torque and gives a mileage of 22.27km per litre.
