Car Of The Week: Ashok Leyland Stile

Bangalore: Ashok Leyland’s latest foray into the passenger vehicle segment is closely monitored by the national and international counterparts. Once a leading name in the commercial vehicle segment of trucks and buses, will the Indian automobile major be able to reproduce magic in passenger segment with its new MPV, Stile? Well, let’s wait and see.

Design:

Stile takes its design cues from Evalia, a class leading MPV from Nissan. The reason- This MPV is developed as a part of joint venture between Ashok Leyland and Nissan-Renault Alliance. Stile is built on the same body shell of Evalia, with slight difference in bumpers, grill and headlights. The simple face is supplemented with twin pod headlamps and grill, with the Leyland emblem going over the bonnet. The casually designed fog lamps add a classy look to it.

Sliding doors on either side make the entry into vehicle easier and prove the point that rather than as a private MPV, Ashok Leyland is focusing into the light commercial vehicle segment (LCV.) The simple design statement follows till the double bulged tail lamps. Overall, the design is disappointing on comparison with Nissan Evalia.
