Bajaj to Unveil Re60 Tomorrow, Gets Sale Approval in Europe


BANGALORE: Bajaj— manufacturer of  two and three wheelers is now getting ready to launch its first four-wheeler-four passenger quadricycle RE60 on September 25 this year. Its first release was made back in 2012 at Delhi Auto Expo and is set for commercial purposes only. It is equipped with a water cooled DTS-i four valve engine having a maximum speed of 70km/hr. The newest model is expected to be offered in both CNG and LPG versions, it is featured with a fuel efficiency of 35 km/l that emits low carbon dioxide emissions of 60g/km, reports ET.

Prior to its release, TUV Rheinland India certification of Bajaj RE60 under the European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EU WVTA) Regulations had qualified it to be exported to Europe and other countries that recognize the EU WVTA standard. Bajaj Auto quadricycle RE60 is expected to be priced between the ranges of Rs 1.25-2.5 lakh.

Abraham Joseph, Chief Technology Officer, Bajaj Auto said, "These EU WVTA regulations are one of the world's toughest in terms of 'Safety and Environment'. The project was quite challenging and the full credit for the successful certification goes to the untiring efforts of TUV Rheinland engineers, who are qualified and authorized by the European Approval Authorities [Ministry of Transport] to conduct the vehicle and component tests in India."
