2. Hornbill Festival, Nagaland

The Hornbill festival is a celebration held every year in the first week of December, in Nagaland, North-east India. The Festival is named after the Indian Hornbill, the large and colourful forest bird which is displayed in folklore in most of the state’s tribes. Organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture Departments, Hornbill Festival showcases a mélange of cultural displays under one roof.

This festival usually takes place between the 1st and the 7th of December every year in Kohima. The tribes of Nagaland celebrate their festivals with appreciation and fervor. The aim of the festival is to revive and protect the rich culture of Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions.

3. Kochi-Muziris Biennale

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art held in Kochi, Kerala. During this festival, Indian and international artists exhibits artworks across a variety of mediums including film, installation, painting, sculpture, new media and performance art.

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale seeks to invoke the historic cosmopolitan legacy of the modern metropolis of Kochi, and its mythical predecessor, the ancient port of Muziris.

Alongside the exhibition the Biennale offers a rich programme of talks, seminars, screenings, music, workshops and educational activities for school children and students. The shows were held in existing galleries and halls, and site-specific installations in public spaces, heritage buildings and disused structures.
