2. Amityville House, New York

112, Ocean Ave, Amityville, NY- Statuary Warning: “Enter At Your Own Risk.” The Amityville House witnessed a brutal tragedy when Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed six of his family members. A year later another family went into the house to live in but they were forced to leave it after 28 days as they were experiencing horrifying supernatural incidences such as stale smells, irremovable black marks on the toilet walls, furniture moving, doors slamming.

Various rituals and exorcisms have been carried out at the house but nothing worked. Eventually the paranormal activities never stopped but the house became a subject of attention for various writers and film-makers. One of them was the 2005 super-hit, “The Amityville Horror.”

3. Lalaurie House, New Orleans

It’s almost like the last house in the world you should knock at, and the reason is its deeply troubled past. Delphine Lalaurie and her husband, Nicolas Lalaurie, who were influential socialites, used to live in this house. In 1834, when the house was set on fire, it was revealed that the couple had kept black people as their slaves.

Further investigations revealed that the slaves were even killed in the most gruesome manner in the house. The dead bodies were found in various pieces over the sight. The couple was reported to be run away just before things were going to get worse and were never seen again. At present, the guests who stayed at this place claimed that they could hear screams and a ghost walking in the balcony.
