10 Legends Of The Racing World

MICHAEL SCHUMACHER

Michael Schumacher is a German racing driver. With his 6th and 7th F1 championship wins, Schumacher broke Fangio’s legendary record of five championships, which had remained unbroken for 46 years.

Schumacher is widely considered the best F1 driver in history and was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice. As stated by the official Formula One website, he is “statistically the greatest driver the sport has ever seen.” None of this on-track brashness prevented him from bringing glory to Ferrari, during his five final victories, a streak from 2000 to 2004. Schumacher suffered a serious head injury while skiing, in 2013. Schumacher was reported to be paralyzed and wheelchair-bound because of the accident, in November 2014.

AYRTON SENNA

Whenever racing fanatics name the best driver in history, the Brazilian hero Ayrton Senna invariably tops the list. His ten-year career was tragically cut short by his fatal crash during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. He has a whopping 41 victories in Grand Prix racing and grabs three Championships. Most of the pole position records from 1989 to 2006 were bagged by Senna.

Senna’s persona matched his style: he once said, “I am not designed to come second or third. I am designed to win.”
