Will 'The Wall' Stand Still To Mentor Indian U-19 Cricket Team?


BANGALORE: With the emergence of very new young players like Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda and Yajuvendra Chahal, Indian cricket’s future seems to be secured enough for the next few decades at least. And the sole destination for the young cricketers in India is the under-19 team. If reports are to be believed, one of the greatest legends of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid will become the chief coach of India’s under-19 cricket team, reports The Indian Express.

As indicated by ESPNCricinfo, Dravid was drawn closer to join the advisory council comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.

According to BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, “He (Dravid) is very much in our scheme of things. We have put a structure in place. We would like Rahul to take up a role. Indian cricket’s restructuring will be incomplete without Rahul Dravid’s contribution,” reports The Indian Express.

Commonly referred as ‘The Wall’, Dravid has been the coach of Rajasthan Royals for the past couple of seasons. He likewise functioned as an expert amid India's voyage through England in 2014. While there were also talks that Dravid is going to replace Indian cricket team’s mentor Duncan Fletcher, ESPNCricinfo claims that Dravid 'has a youthful family and is not enthused about a vocation that oblige ceaseless travel.'
