Indian Players Who Stood Out In IPL 2016


BENGALURU: Ever since Indian Premiere League (IPL) was introduced it has elevated the level of cricket. IPL has been an entertainer to all the cricket lovers. IPL 2016 is the year of records, be it surpassing the total runs, or for taking most wickets, the game is getting better each year. IPL is no good if Indian players don’t put up a good show.

This year’s IPL season has been rewarding, because both the orange cap and purple cap holders were Indian players, now that shows the caliber of Indian cricketers.  There were many breathtaking and marvelous performances by Indian players that can never be forgotten. Here are some of the outstanding players in 2016 IPL tournament.

Cricket prodigy - Virat Kohli

The highly talented player from Delhi has proved consistently that he is a world class player. Playing under the captaincy of Dhoni, has helped him gain experience in leading the team. The mastermind player has already proved his ability to lead the team when he won the under 19 World Cup for India. It was nothing new for him to lead the side for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). IPL 2016 has been a tremendous season for Virat, he surpassed the highest individual score of all seasons and posted a massive 973 runs in 16 matches. Now that’s a huge score, only time can tell who is going to break the record.

This Delhi based batsman became the first cricketer to score four centuries in one season. Following are the 4 centuries made by Virat: he scored 103 against Gujarat Lions, 113 against Kings XI Punjab, 103 not out against Rising Pune Supergiant and another century against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The test captain of Indian team has single handedly won the matches for RCB. Records made by this Delhi batsman is endless in this season, such as 36 sixes in the tournament — most by any batsman, highest run scorer, and he is the first cricketer to spend over 1,000 minutes at the crease in one IPL season.
