Indian storm in Asiad (1951): It was the first Asian Games, held in Delhi, also known as ASIAD. ASIAD witnessed the first international football tournament success of India, India beating Iran, with 1-0 lead in the finals. The tournament had 5 contenders namely, India, Japan, Iran, Indonesia and Burma. India entered finals by beating Afghanistan and faced the vigorous Iran in the final game. India finished the game with 1-0 lead and was crowned as the first football champion of Asia. Sahu Mewala was the star of the tournament, by scoring 4 goals in the whole tournament and was the only goal scorer in the finals.
