Six Years After 26/11: Is India Ready To Face Terror Attacks?

The very place, the costal sea from where these terrorist entered India is not put under proper coastal census till now even after facing such deadly setbacks. The system still lacks in properly identifying the 20 lakhs boats that are passing the sea. It might seem impossible to keep a check on lakhs of boats but if a proper technical security check can be deployed, probably that might reduce the entering of such threats inside the country.

According to an official statement released recently, “The Indian Navy, along with the Coast Guard and Indian Air Force, is conducting the annual Defence of Gujarat Exercise for five days. At any given time, the entire west coast is under continuous surveillance by ships and aircraft of the Navy and Coast Guard,” reports NDTV. It is considered that it might provide a standard prevention protocol to take actions in certain vulnerable conditions like 26/11.

The existing government has put on the authorities to take modern technical measures such as implementing for coastal surveillance by way of a chain of 74 Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers for gapless cover along the entire coast. This is accompanied by a chain of overlapping 46 coastal radars in coastal areas of our mainland and islands.

It is high time that the concerned authorities deal this matter with iron hands to safeguard the interest of commoners and the nation.
