People In These 10 Indian States Have More Mobile Phones Than Toilets


2. Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is the 4th largest Indian state by area, but here also the results are surprisingly horrible, it has only 35.65 percent toilets and 61.20 percent cell phones. The impact of open defecation is promoting more serious crimes, as fearful as rapes. 

The frightful example of open defecation has been reported in a small district Badaun of U.P. where two girls were raped and killed brutally. Such situation needs urgent monitoring by the government, reports Livemint.

3. Bihar

Bihar is the 3rd largest state by population. Though, the state has improved infrastructure, better health care facilities, education, and a diminution in crime and corruption, the state possess only 23.06 percent toilets where 51.60 percent population use mobile phones.

According to Ashish Gupta, a police official, “More than 60 percent of the rapes in the state occur when the victims step out to relieve themselves because they do not have toilets at their homes,” reports Livemint.
