Net Neutrality: All You Need to Know

Net NeutralityWhy is it Important?

Imagine having to live without Google and the likes. Google wouldn’t have happened without the advent of internet, which proves the purpose of the internet. If there was any restriction on the internet back in 90’s it would not have been a ‘world wide web’.

However net neutrality can be broken in many ways by many countries including India. In India Airtel imposed extra charges for Internet Voice over IP (VOIP) services like WhatsApp, but later decided against such charges. It is important to see that every packet of the data is treated equally regardless of cost, speed and access.

Net NeutralityWhat Angered the Users?

Airtel’s new marketing platform Airtel Zero allows the plan developers to sign up with it. Flipkart, signed up for Airtel Zero, which will in turn bear the data charges for the Flipkart app making it available for free for Airtel users. This means the users of Airtel network will get access to Flipkart app without any data costs.

However Flipkart has pulled out of Airtel Zero on facing the severe kind of aggression from its consumers.
