Modi's Dream Projects To Get A Boost By Union Budget

Jaitley further mentioned that these cleanliness projects are not just projects but a movement initiated by Modi’s government which is likely to be a prime accomplishment of NDA.

Jaitley also said, “We have been able to convert it (Swachh Bharat) into a movement. With 50 lakh toilets already constructed, we will achieve the target of building six crore toilets.”

The government is undertaking yet another big project on its stride for interlinking the rivers and is allocated 4232.43 crore on the budget 2015.

The National Ganga Plan is allotted at 2100 crore which can be realized when the profit earning companies would fork out 2 percent of the profit for CSR activities.

However, the government cannot come up with the development of the other rivers. Manoj Misra, former IFS officer and coordinator of ‘Yamuna Jiye Abhiyaan’ said: “By just mentioning about Namami Gange, all other rivers cannot be set aside and it is not acceptable. The government seems to have totally forgotten about the effects seen and being seen from climate change.”

“The Budget reflects poor understanding on environmental issues by this government, which still feels that environment and environment matters are elitist and anti-development,” he further added.
