Col. Narendra Kumar:

Also known as ‘Bull’ Kumar, Col. Narendra Kumar is an internationally renowned mountaineer of legendary fame. He is today the most highly-acclaimed mountaineer in India. Since the start of his career, Bull has successfully led mountaineering expeditions to the highest peaks of Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, Garhwal, Kashmir and Eastern Karakoram.

The heroic story of Col. Kumar dates  1978, when he took a major expedition to the hostile glacier of Siachen. This was six years before India launched Operation Meghdoot and his expedition triggers the Indian Army to display this operation into action.

It is noteworthy that Col. Kumar was the first man in the world to cross the Siachen Glacier from the snout to its source. He also skied down all the passes on the Glacier such as the Bila-Fondla, Saltoro Pass, Sia-La, Turkistan-La, Indira-Col and Pass Italia and led successful expeditions to Saltoro Kangri (25,400 feet) the highest in Eastern Karakoram.

The ascent of Kanchenjunga from the North East spur., which is considered to be a greater feat than climbing Mt Everest, was one such contribution of him towards the world of mountaineering.

Rukhsana Kausar:

A farmer’s daughter from Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, Rukhsana Kousar shot to fame after killing a Lashker-e-Toiba terrorist to save her family.

On that fateful night of September 27 2009, Rukhsana, along with her sibling, overpowered the LeT terrorist, snatched his rifle and fired at him, killing him on the spot and injuring another at Kalsian village, about 217 km from Jammu.

For this brave act of her, Rukhsana was awarded the country's second highest peace-time gallantry award, Kirti Chakra.

After this incident, Rukhsana Kausar stated, "I don't want a job in Jammu, but in Delhi. The Centre has to give me a job in the capital ...we will be safer there. It's not that I want to leave my house at Rajouri district in J&K, but after that incident, I am sure the terrorists will target me and my family," reports Wikipedia.
