2. Vladimir Putin-Courtesy To Controversy

Vladimir Putin, the former Russian President put a shawl around China’s First Lady Peng Liyuan during a fireworks display at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing on November 10, 2014.

China’s local audience were able to see the moment live on national broadcaster CCTV, with the commentator noting the incident, which also sparked a hash tag on Chinese social networks.  Vladimir Putin-Courtesy To Controversy According to Zhang Lifan, Chinese Scholar, “China is traditionally conservative on public interaction between unrelated men and women, and the public show of consideration by Putin may provide fodder for jokes, which the big boss probably does not like,” reports the Guardian.

Previously Putin was caught on the camera for another similar but innocuous gesture when he offered a shawl to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2013, G20 summit in Saint Petersburg. It might be his etiquettes that provoked him for the move, but at times, the right appears to be wrong, poor fate!

At the Delhi NAM summit in 1983, Cuban president Fidel Castro overwhelmed the little Indira Gandhi in a bear hug for which she was not at all ready or willing for. She quickly moved away giving him a surprise look but sooner he quickly joined the gathering.
