Who are the Nicest Indians?

Bangalore: Who are India's nicest people? Which state is home to India's friendliest? UP-ites are the nicest people in the country, says a recent survey by NDTV. They were followed by Keralites on the second position and Rajasthanis on the third.

The crime rate in Uttar Pradesh may be high but its people have been voted as the nicest people of the country. Irrespective of their ethnicities, people of UP are known for their hospitality and their devotion to tradition. Despite a great amount of caste system at the core of the social construction, there has been a history of tolerance.

So Indians would choose friends from these states if they didn’t have a friend from their own state. The respondents chose states that would welcome people from every state and who are friendly.

Keralites too are known to be a hospitable, while the Land of Kings, Rajasthan is well known for its vibrant culture and friendly people.

The survey further revealed that Assamese like Punjabis best while Bengalis like Rajasthanis best.

The poll was carried out in 125 constituencies spread over 18 states (these account for over 20 percent of the 543 Lok Sabha seats). Each Lok Sabha constituency was chosen using a statistical formula based on voting patterns of 2009 Lok Sabha Elections.
