Top Nations That Scored High In Global Social Well-Being Index

BANGALORE: Most of the time a nation's success is taken into account with measures like GDP, life expectancy and employment rates. Well-being is the most accurate measure of the quality of life experienced by a country's citizens.

The recently released well-being index by Gallup and Healthways, evaluates people’s sense of purpose, social connections, community, finances and physical vigor.

The report explains that the Index is designed as an alternative to traditional objective measures, such as GDP, life expectancy, and population size. Instead, the index, which canvassed 133,000 people in 135 countries and regions, serves as “a global barometer of individuals’ perceptions of their well-being.” It’s important because people with higher well-being are “healthier, more productive, and more resilient in the face of challenges such as unemployment.”
