Stephen Hawking's View about the End of Humanity

BENGALURU: Questions have been asked by countless individuals in regards to how the world will end?  Or what are the causes that will wipe out the whole human race? Over centuries scientists have been trying to find the answers to these questions, giving rise to many theories.  Stephen Hawking says, “If humanity survives the rise of Artificial Intelligence, the ravages of climate change and the threat of nuclear terrorism in the next century, it doesn't mean we're home free.”

Hawking believes that human race has 1000 years to flourish in Earth and this places humanity in greater risk, considering mass extinction. He further adds that humans must continue to go to space for the future journey. In a speech at Oxford University Union, Hawking adds, “I don't think we will survive another 1000 years without escaping beyond our fragile planet.”

In this long hour of speech Hawking talked about the challenges which are yet to come to humanity. The speech had a wide-range talk about the origins of the universe and Einstein’s theory of relativity, and humanity’s creation myths and God. Further, in a Q&A session ahead of the speech, Hawking said that leaving the planet Earth behind was the best hope for survival.

As NASA is hunting for Earthlike planets far across the depth of the universe, researchers  have discovered about 4600 ‘Candidate’ planets and another 2300 potentially confirmed planets—including kepler-62f which was discovered by Kepler Craft. Adding Artificial Intelligence onto the context, Hawking says, "Once humans develop artificial intelligence, it will take off on its own and redesign itself at an ever-increasing rate.”
