Royal Baby Named George Alexander Louis

London: Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, have named their newborn son -- George Alexander Louis, the Kensington Palace said.

The third in line to the throne, who was born Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in London, will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge, BBC reported.

It is believed that the queen was told of Prince George's name when she met him for the first time Wednesday. Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall had visited the couple and their baby in hospital.

The family are at the Middleton home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, after spending a night at Kensington Palace.

George was the bookmakers' favourite for the first name of the prince.

Alexander was said to be a favourite of Catherine's, while Louis is William's fourth name.
