Railways Sign MoU With Odisha Government

NEW DELHI: Indian Railways on Monday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government for setting up two railway projects in the state.

According to the Railway Ministry, as per the agreement, the Odisha state government will bear 25 pct cost on development of the 130-km Jeypore-Malkangiri railway line project.

The state government will also share 50 pct of the development cost of the 38-km Jeypore-Nabarangpur track.

Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu said Odisha is a focus state for the Indian railways.

"To improve the connectivity infrastructure in a particular state, Indian Railways is now forming joint venture with that state government. Sharing of ownership will lead to more leverage in creating connectivity in the state," Prabhu said.
