KHUNTI: A local RSS leader was on Sunday shot dead allegedly by suspected ultras near Gudijora in Khunti district, a senior police officer said.
Twenty-year-old Karambeer Mahato was on his way to Belangi from Gudijora village on a motorcycle when three motorcycle-borne assailants fired at him, injuring him fatally, Superintendent of Police Anish Gupta said.
Extortion or personal enmity were the suspected cause behind the killing, the SP said adding that police were investigating the incident in all possible angle.
Asked whether any ultra group’s involvement was a possibility behind the incident, Mr Gupta did not rule out such a chance.
